The Mystery Spot

Have any of you ever seen an episode of the Twilight Zone? I have seen one and this place I would say is kind of like a real life episode. I have been here once before, it was raining, so it was a different experience but this weekend, my roommates wanted to go, so I went along, to see what it was like on a sunny day and to get a cool post out of it too lol. I don't want to give up too much information so I'll give a little summary of the tour you do when you go.

So you start off and tickets for a specific time slot are $6, although I got charged a $2 convenience fee to pay with my debit card *rolls my eyes*. And then a parking pass is $5, I believe, either 5 or 4. We got there a little early so we went into the convenience store, I took pictures of the little waiting area and we just soaked in the magic of being surrounded by all the trees, the sky straight above and the little twinkly lights hung up all around, also we lost service, like completely NO SERVICE it read on the top left corner of my phone. Finally it's our turn for our tour so we go to the little gathering area and the tour guide introduces herself and begins telling us about the history of the place. Something about a business man, or maybe just a regular man, wanted to build a summer home for his family and they would only sell the land to him if they bought the flat land and the hill side. He bought the land and then strange things started happening. At this point she shows us two little pieces of wood that are leveled but one is in the mystery circle while the other is outside. When you step on the one inside the circle, you lose two inches of height. This is where all the crazy examples/exhibits start. She proves this to us by having a few different volunteers go up and then we head up the hill.

Now this hill, again with the weird stuff, when you walk up it, it is twice as hard because of the force that pulls (pushes?) you down. Finally, completely out of breath and after feeling like I was going to fall back, I made it to the top. Now at the top, this is were the leaning starts, I believe the tour guide said it was a 90 degree lean? something along those lines. Again she pulls out her lever and show us this piece of wood that looks like it's / (with the lower end to the left and the higher end to the right) well turns out it's not like that, the left side is the higher end but then, guess what, she rolls a ball "down" the board, but it doesn't go down! it goes up! It was honestly the strangest thing. This is because of the force that I was saying earlier.

Then we go into the house and we get more examples. There's a ladder that you can just go straight up. A ball that swings towards the floor but the force doesn't let it swing the other way. There are also some bars at the top of the doorway and you can swing from it, at this 90 degree angle. There's a table you can stand on and again, lean at a 90 degree angle, towards the floor! It's honestly freaky.

We go outside the house and so on continues the examples. The tour guide requests for people in the group that start at 5 feet flat and then someone onward two inches taller until 5'10". She has them stand shortest to tallest, left to right, on this bench, that of course, is leveled. She then has everyone switch, so the tallest is far left and the short is far right, and guess what? Everyone now is about the same height, well everyone except for the guy who is 5'10", she then states she think he's actually a little taller than 5'10". Then, she goes on to prove how everyone's height change drastically by having the very last people switch, so the shortest person is back on the left and the tallest is back on the right. Omg, what a change. There is now like a 6 inch distance, possibly more.

The tour lasted about 30 to 40 minutes, which isn't too bad, especially for $8 to get to experience this super cool and super natural thing that the tour guide has 3 theories as to how it came about, but I will let you find those out yourself by going and getting the tour in person, I highly recommend.

I hope you enjoyed, I know I did. Next post will be a recipe post.

Love,

Bee
