Palm Springs (Father's Day Edition)

Now someone explain to me how I don't think I had ever been to Palm Springs my whole life, and then somehow in a matter of about three months, I have managed to go twice with two different families. Whatever the reasoning, I am so happy I got to go again.

This year, for Father's day weekend, my family and some family friends decided to invade the Hilton in Palm Springs and just enjoy life. We drove there Saturday afternoon and got there in not a too long of a drive. We checked into the Hilton which is across the street from a casino, we unpacked and we headed down to the pool area.

As I said, it was my family, such as my mom, dad and sisters, but our extended family went as well so my uncle, aunt and one of my cousins where there as well as family friends. We all sort of met up in one of the rooms, someone had a suite so that became command central lol. We all met up there talked a bit, everyone had a few drinks, ate some chips and salsa and because of the location of the room, it led straight into the pool area so we somehow slowly transferred from the suite to the pool. My parents and I sat at the bar while my sisters swam and we all just kind of chatted, had a few drinks and just lived life very peacefully. We got there after everyone else had so we were all going to eat together at some restaurant down the street but everyone was starving before we were even just a little bit hungry so everyone else left and we stayed at the bar and ordered food.

This was Saturday, the day before Father's day and on this afternoon Mexico soccer team would be playing. So we decided to stay at the bar and eat there while the game was on. I ordered a philly cheese steak which was pretty good and watched as Mexico got slaughtered. After the game ended, I had homework *rolls eyes* so I snuck away and went up into my room to finish said homework. I finished, my mom knocked out and not long after I finished my hw did my sisters and dad come into the room because the sun had kind of beat the energy out of everyone so everyone was going to go to bed, plus a few people were drunk.

On Sunday morning, my parents, sisters and I all woke up semi early to go swim. We got into our little bathing suits/bikinis and headed down. It was like 8 am and it was already like 80 something degrees, like high 80's too. Omg how nice it felt to be in the pool. We were all in there for about an hour, hour and a half, before getting out and headed back up to get ready. We all showered, got dressed and the plan was to go eat across the street and then come back, check out and then leave. But we walk across , in this now like 90 degree weather, and realize that where we want to eat is jam packed. My dad also wanted to stop in Yucaipa to try out this restaurant his friend told him his dad owned. So we wanted to support this friend and stop by to get some of their Father's day lunch items. But after seeing the restaurant, we decided let's just go to the greek restaurant now and eat there, and so we did.

Super easy, we checked out and headed onto the road, which thank goodness because it was just TOO HOT! But after a quick little nap (from everyone but the driver, sorry dad lol) we arrive to our location, The Fat Greek.

Now omg, was this place good. So let me clarify, I have done a post about this taco place before called Off The Hook. My parents go here almost every Tuesday for Taco Tuesday so they have become very friendly and very familiar with the waiters/servers. And on one of those days my dad mentions we're going to Palm Springs for Father's Day weekend and one of the servers tells them about his dad's restaurant called The Fat Greek in Yucaipa and tells them how the food is good and they'll be having like a big bbq for Father's Day and how they should stop by because he'll be working and it'll just be fun. And that day he happened to have samples of some of the meat and they cooked it up at the restaurant and passed it out and my dad was excited because it was good. So we went there because of him and the day of he came up to us and was like oh I am so glad to see you and like I hope you enjoy and everyone was very kind and welcoming and then after he said hi to us they realized we were friends so they were even nicer, which I didn't mind lol.

But on to the food, the specials that day were the lamb and the chicken & beef Souvlakis. I ordered some chicken Souvlakis, my mom ordered the beef and the lamb, we also ordered chicken gyros, falafel plate, jalapeno poppers and some fried zucchinis. All of it, let me just say, was DELICIOUS! And we accidentally got way too much food but it's okay haha. We all ate so much and it was so hot but honestly what made it all so good was the hospitality. Everyone was extremely friendly and even though I said they knew we were friends, they were still checking up on everyone else as well. We did however get dessert on the house which was good as well! It was filo dough with dark chocolate and some I think like almonds, crushed almonds.

After we somehow managed to get up from our chairs after all that food we finally headed back home. It was overall great and we are hoping to someday go back and get more food. If you live near there I highly recommend going to the Fat Greek and if you want to stay somewhere in Palm Springs I recommend the Hilton, they have a nice pool, good rooms and AC.

I hope all of you had a good Father's Day weekend, no matter who you celebrate with/for. See y'all on Saturday.

Love,

Bee
